Join our dedicated team as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) working weekend shifts from 3 PM to 11 PM! In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, those with cognitive disabilities, and residents in assisted living or long-term care settings. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia care strategies
- Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document accurately
- Engage residents through meaningful activities, socialization, and behavioral management techniques
- Practice safe patient lifting and manual handling procedures to prevent injury for both residents and staff
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care delivery
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to respond promptly during emergencies
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through compassionate caregiving and active listening
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, geriatrics, and developmental disabilities
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care in home or community settings
- Familiarity with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and safe patient lifting practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments in group home or long-term care environments
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in behavior management or caregiving is advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks effectively
