Job Description
Cal Spas is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Manager for its Spa Manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, improving inventory control processes, identifying root causes of discrepancies, and helping build a stronger inventory structure throughout the manufacturing operation.
This role requires a hands-on manager who can work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, assess current inventory practices, identify system and process gaps, and implement practical solutions that improve accuracy, accountability, and material flow.
The Inventory Control Manager will over see Material Handling and work closely with Production, Purchasing, Accounting, and Management to ensure inventory records in Epicor accurately reflect physical inventory on hand.
The Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for ALL materials through out the company, ensuring location management, material movement and BIN identification of all materials stored.
Work Environment
The position operates in a live manufacturing environment where inventory accuracy directly affects production, purchasing, cost control, and customer delivery. The Inventory Control Manager must be comfortable walking the production floor, reviewing storage areas, inspecting material locations, working with department leads, and addressing inventory issues in real time.
This role requires strong communication, follow-up, and the ability to work with multiple departments to correct inventory problems before they create production delays or financial discrepancies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for ALL materials in inventory.
- Maintain and monitor inventory accuracy within the Epicor system.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and reconcile differences between system inventory and physical inventory.
- Assess current inventory processes, storage methods, material movement, and transaction practices to identify weaknesses or breakdowns.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy, material control, and system reliability.
- Review inventory adjustment requests to ensure adjustments are accurate, properly documented, and supported by root cause findings.
- Assist with shortage reports, overage reports, and inventory variance reviews.
- Oversee material storage areas and help create organized inventory structures throughout the warehouse and production departments.
- Ensure all received items are properly entered into the system and assigned accurate bin locations.
- Monitor inventory movement between departments to ensure materials are properly issued, transferred, received, and documented.
- Review and manage physical inventory count processes to ensure counts are accurate, complete, and efficient.
- Maintain a cycle count schedule and ensure timely completion of cycle counts and year-end inventory counts.
- Perform spot checks of inventory counts and validate physical inventory against Epicor records.
- Ensure item substitutions, SKU replacements, and alternate parts are properly allocated to work orders and accurately reflected in the system.
- Review inventory on a consistent basis for obsolete, expired, damaged, or slow-moving material and communicate findings to upper management.
- Facilitate month-end inventory closing and reporting, including providing accurate inventory reports to Accounting.
- Identify recurring inventory issues and develop process improvements to prevent repeated discrepancies.
- Train and guide employees on proper inventory control procedures, material handling practices, bin location usage, and system transaction requirements.
- Support stronger accountability between Production, Purchasing, Material Handling, and Inventory Control.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in inventory control, warehouse management, material handling, or manufacturing inventory systems.
- Strong understanding of physical inventory, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and discrepancy investigations.
- Ability to assess inventory problems and implement practical corrective actions.
- Experience working with ERP systems; Epicor experience is preferred.
- Strong Excel skills required.
- Ability to read and analyze inventory reports, shortage reports, overage reports, and transaction history.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work directly with production departments and warehouse teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with supervisors, managers, and accounting personnel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond to inventory issues quickly and professionally.
Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing inventory control experience.
- Experience improving inventory accuracy, bin location systems, cycle count programs, and material movement processes.
- Experience conducting root cause investigations related to inventory discrepancies.
- Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems.
- Experience supporting month-end inventory close and accounting reporting.
