SOFTGOODS TECHNICIAN
Max Space is looking for motivated and enthusiastic Softgoods Technicians to assist with production and assembly of expandable space habitats. Our tight-knit team of highly skilled individuals is devoted to creating spacecraft of the highest quality. This role requires candidates to have exceptional personal initiative, high attention to detail, and demonstrate composure under difficult technical circumstances. We are looking for technicians who take pride in their work and ownership in the process instead of fading into the background. You will be encouraged to use your technical abilities and expertise to identify issues, propose solutions and implement improvements to produce repeatable high quality work in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and maintain fabric welders and heat sealers to consistently create high quality seams on large scale softgoods assemblies
- Operate and maintain various types of industrial sewing machines including CNC patterning machines and heavy duty long arm machines
- Operate and maintain automated static cutting machines
- Follow complex work instructions and engineering drawings with precision, ensuring the highest quality of workmanship
- Work closely with engineering to develop and implement operational improvements focused on streamlining build processes and increasing repeatability
- Play a critical role in spacecraft assembly operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional experience working hands on in the aerospace, aviation, automotive, outdoor gear or marine/sailing industries
PREFFERED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with expandable space habitats
- Strong knowledge of technical textiles and aerospace composites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Experience working in a clean room environment
- Skill in operating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
- Experience with forklifts, cranes and man lifts
- Familiarity with calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, calipers and load cells
- Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass an internal background check
- Ability to work onsite Monday – Friday dayshift (8am – 5pm) with overtime and weekends as needed
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- Comfortable working in an environment that is exposed to noise, fumes and odors
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
