The Resource Advocate provides direct, compassionate support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as their dependent children. Based at our emergency shelter, Harbor House, this role assists clients with safety planning, accessing community resources, and navigating legal, housing, and social services. In addition to on-site support, the Resource Advocate conducts outreach in the community to ensure survivors receive trauma-informed guidance, practical assistance, and empowerment to achieve safety, stability, and self-determined goals.
Main Duties:
- Conduct client intakes and provide ongoing case management to support survivors and their dependent children in achieving self-identified goals.
- Provide voluntary, confidential advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through one-on-one support, group facilitation, educational workshops, and culturally responsive healing opportunities.
- Advocate for and coordinate access to community resources including, but not limited to, children’s services, criminal justice systems, employment, health care, relocation support, and basic needs in accordance with agency policies.
- Provide housing advocacy by assisting with emergency shelter access, safety planning related to housing, relocation assistance, housing applications, and securing safe, affordable housing options.
- Provide ongoing case management to assist survivors with any additional self-identified goals.
- Respond to crisis calls, participate in staff on-call rotation, provide shelter coverage as needed.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure coordinated services, appropriate referrals, and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all services provided.
Shift: Monday- Friday, 8 AM- 4 PM, with flexibility if needed.
