Our Mental Health Division provides flexible emotional and behavioral services directly on school campuses, within the client’s home, or in our office. We currently offer Mild to Moderate services to promote resilience, academic engagement, and students’ overall well-being through early intervention and family partnership.

POSITION FUNCTION
The Mental Health Therapist addresses the Mild to Moderate social, emotional, mental, behavioral, and environmental barriers that interfere with student learning, attendance, and school safety.
This role provides:
Assessments
Individual & Group Therapy
Case Management & Home Visits
Family Support
Preventive Social-Emotional Interventions
Collaboration within MTSS / PBIS school structures
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related behavioral/mental health field

Two years of successful experience in a school, community mental health, or children’s services setting

Experience providing individual counseling, family support, case management, and crisis intervention
-
Knowledge of evidence-based school social work practices to improve behavioral, emotional, and academic outcomes
-
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school staff, and outside agencies
-
Ability to work flexible hours, including conducting home visits
-
Ability to meet physical requirements necessary for assigned duties

Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid certification
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Experience with MTSS, PBIS, CBT, or similar school-based structures and interventions
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct comprehensive behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health assessments aligned with NASW best practices.

Provide individual and group counseling/ therapy (Within the school, home, or office) using evidence-based programs such as:

Aggression Replacement Training (ART)

Forward Thinking Journaling

Conduct home visits to strengthen family engagement and support intervention plans.

Provide case management and connects families to community resources.
School Collaboration
- Works with teachers, administrators, MTSS/PBIS teams, and the School Attendance Review Board (SARB)

Assists schools and families in addressing emotional, behavioral, and mental health-related attendance concerns.

Guides classroom strategies, conflict mediation, and trauma-informed practices.

Participates in school and community multidisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated care.
Systems-Level & Preventative Work
- Conducts assessments of students and broader environments (home, classroom, school culture).

Uses evidence-informed, culturally responsive interventions to support academic and behavioral success.

Delivers parent, staff, and community training related to social-emotional and mental health best practices.

Utilizes data to guide service delivery and improve intervention quality.

Prepares accurate, timely, and complete electronic records, reports, and progress documentation.

Maintains confidentiality and adheres to mandated reporting, HIPAA, and ethical standards.
