Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and physiology, as well as excellent patient service skills. The Phlebotomist will work in a clinical laboratory setting, interacting with patients to provide a comfortable experience during blood sampling procedures.
Duties
- Must be able to report to work at 7 a.m.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood sampling in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and accurate labeling of specimens.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
- Assist in the collection, processing, and transportation of laboratory specimens.
- Provide exceptional patient care by addressing concerns and ensuring comfort throughout the procedure.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and infection control protocols to minimize risks.
- Document all procedures accurately in patient records and laboratory information systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow within the clinical laboratory.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in patient care, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures related to phlebotomy.
- Strong understanding of human physiology and anatomy as it pertains to blood collection.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service and communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in phlebotomy or relevant training is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory operations is an asset.
