Discover Burien is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening our community through economic development, education, arts, and events. One of our most exciting initiatives is The Box Makerspace—a creative community workshop where people of all ages can learn new skills, create amazing projects, and bring their ideas to life.
We're looking for an energetic, organized, and hands-on Makerspace Manager who enjoys working with people as much as working with tools. If you're passionate about creativity, teaching, technology, and community building, we'd love to meet you.
This isn't just a job operating equipment—it's an opportunity to inspire creativity and help build one of South King County's premier community makerspaces.
What You'll Do
As the Makerspace Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of The Box Makerspace by:
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for members and visitors
- Training and certifying members on makerspace equipment
- Maintaining and troubleshooting equipment
- Managing memberships, retail sales, equipment reservations, and daily operations
- Teaching workshops and assisting members with projects
- Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies
- Supervising volunteer mentors
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and organized workspace
- Working with Discover Burien staff to grow programming and community engagement

- Sewing Machines
- Woodworking Tools
- Metalworking Tools
- Hand & Power Tools
- Photography & Video Equipment

Qualifications
- High school diploma (additional technical training or equivalent experience preferred)
- Valid Washington State Driver License
- Experience in education, fabrication, makerspaces, workshops, retail, or technical environments is highly desirable
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
