Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles such as refrigerated trailers across assigned routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and company procedures.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Manage route driving responsibilities with precision, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining optimal fuel efficiency.
- Handle freight securely during transport, including specialized cargo such as refrigerated goods or heavy equipment on flatbeds.
- Utilize forklift skills when necessary for loading or unloading cargo at warehouses or distribution centers.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks is preferred.
- Proven track record in truck driving, including delivery driver experience with various freight types.
- Ability to drive different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of load and unload procedures and safety regulations related to freight transportation.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers and specialized cargo handling is a plus.
- Strong route planning skills and the ability to drive efficiently over long distances while maintaining safety and compliance.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Compensation
