Grounds Maintenance Technician June 12, 2026
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Grade/Level/Family/Range: Hourly $15-17/hr based on experience
Hours: Mon-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, Overtime, Some Saturdays
Summary/objective
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized scrap yard and facility. This position performs general groundskeeping duties, environmental maintenance tasks, light equipment operation, and facility upkeep to ensure the yard remains operational, compliant, and presentable.

- Maintain cleanliness of yard roadways, driveways, work areas, and facility grounds.
- Operate tractor, rake, magnet, and other equipment to clean and maintain yard surfaces.
- Remove debris, litter, and scrap materials from designated areas.
- Spray weeds and vegetation in accordance with company procedures
- Inspect, replace, and maintain oil booms, drain socks, and other environmental control devices.
- Assist with stormwater pollution prevention and environmental compliance activities.
- Perform light maintenance and repair tasks on company property and equipment.
- Prepare and paint hoppers, containers, buildings, equipment, and other facility assets as assigned.
- Assist maintenance personnel with projects and repairs as needed
- Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner at all times
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Competency
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to safely operate tractors and other mobile equipment or willingness to learn
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to rake, shovel, remove snow, and pick up trash
- Ability to use a manlift, skid loader, skid steer, forklift
Physical demands
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, and walking
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work around dust, noise, and industrial environments
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
