Position Summary
We are seeking a Lead Electro-Mechanical Technician to oversee daily assembly operations while performing advanced system builds, testing, and troubleshooting. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily activities of assembly team members, ensuring schedules and production goals are achieved
- Assign work based on skill level, workload, and project requirements
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and escalate issues as needed
- Train, mentor, and support team members on assembly processes, quality standards, and safety procedures
- Act as a liaison between production, engineering, and leadership teams
- Perform advanced assembly of complex electro-mechanical systems (wiring, harnessing, soldering, mechanical integration, testing)
- Interpret and work from complex schematics, drawings, BOMs, and engineering changes
- Conduct advanced diagnostics and system-level troubleshooting
- Support first article builds, prototypes, and NPI activities
- Inspect and verify completed assemblies for quality and compliance
- Ensure adherence to quality procedures, documentation, and inspection standards
- Identify recurring issues and drive process improvements and corrective actions
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain and improve 5S and lean manufacturing practices
- Ensure accurate completion of production records, travelers, and inspection data
- Provide input on work instructions, procedures, and training materials
- Communicate daily progress, risks, and resource needs to leadership
Qualifications
- Technical training or associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of electro-mechanical assembly or system integration experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor teams in a production environment
- Expert ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency with advanced tools and diagnostic equipment (torque tools, soldering, crimping, meters, oscilloscopes, precision measurement tools)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001 certifications are a plus
- Experience in regulated or high-reliability industries (medical, aerospace, defense, robotics) preferred
- Experience supporting NPI and prototype builds
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and digital work instructions
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies
