Position Description
Job Summary:
The Mechanic Helper supports shop operations by assisting senior mechanics with maintenance and repair of vehicles, tools, and equipment (without use of tools). This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with basic mechanical knowledge who are motivated to learn and grow in a hands-on environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

General housekeeping in the shop (sweeping, mopping, trash removal, wiping down benches and hand tools).

Organizing, labeling, and restocking parts, supplies, and hardware in bins and shelving, without use of forklifts or other powered industrial trucks.

Hand-carrying or moving on a non-motorized cart small parts, filters, hoses, belts, and similar light components to mechanics as directed.

Assisting with unpacking, checking, and shelving incoming parts and materials.

Retrieving and returning hand tools and non-powered equipment for mechanics.

Using basic, non-powered hand tools for simple, low-risk tasks under close supervision.

Assisting with exterior cleaning of vehicles or equipment using rags, brushes, buckets, and approved cleaning agents (no powered wash equipment where that would be considered hazardous).

Placing wheel chocks, drip pans, and floor mats as directed by a mechanic or supervisor.

Applying and removing non-hazardous labels, tags, and signage on parts, tools, and equipment.

Assisting with inventory counts by visually checking stock levels and recording quantities.

Transporting documents, small parts, and tools within the facility by hand or non-motorized cart only.

Participating in safety meetings, tailgate talks, and training sessions.
Position Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities:

Basic knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.

Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Willingness to learn and follow directions from experienced mechanics.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Dependable and able to work independently when needed.

Comfortable working in a shop and outdoor environment.

Education and Experience:

Experience in a shop or maintenance setting preferred but not required.

Valid Identification Card.
Physical and Additional Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor for extended periods.

Must be available to work early mornings, weekends, or when required.
