Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging to aid in accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries and procedures.
- Handle patients with care. Utilizing dog and cat handling skills, including fear free techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Conduct dental cleanings, utilize dental terminology accurately, and educate pet owners on oral health.
- Operate X-ray equipment, including dental radiology.
- Maintain detailed records of treatments, laboratory results, and patient progress in compliance with veterinary standards.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Veterinary Technician from an accredited program.
- Proven veterinary technician experience with familiarity in veterinary terminology and animal anatomy knowledge.
- Experience working with dogs and cats.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques required.
- Strong animal handling skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining compassionate care for animals.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners on pet care needs.
