Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Lead classroom activities that promote active participation, critical thinking, and creativity among students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design inclusive instructional strategies tailored for students with disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavioral management techniques suited for children with special needs.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly, including standardized testing and formative evaluations.
- Support individualized education plans (IEPs) by integrating speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and other specialized interventions into daily routines.
- Mentor and supervise assistant teachers and student teachers, fostering professional growth and team cohesion.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student development, attendance, and compliance with special education law requirements.
- Engage families through regular communication about student progress, behavior management strategies, and curriculum updates.
- Integrate educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and facilitate differentiated instruction.
Skills
- Proven experience in classroom management within early childhood or special education settings.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, including working with children with disabilities and developmental delays.
- Expertise in curriculum development across literacy, math, communication skills, and behavioral health topics.
- Familiarity with IEP processes, special education law, and behavior management techniques for students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, staff, and specialists such as speech therapists or behavioral health professionals.
- Ability to utilize educational technology for lesson planning and instructional delivery.
- Experience working in private schools or Montessori preschool environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members while fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports neurodiversity.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies to support academic achievement.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in early intervention strategies, autism spectrum disorders support, and childhood education best practices.
