Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and document clients’ vital signs, health status, and behavioral changes to ensure safety and proper care.
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are met.
- Support clients during outings or community activities to foster social interaction and independence.
- Maintain a clean, safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces.
- Follow detailed care plans designed by healthcare professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support tailored to each individual’s needs.
Skills
- Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR, HIPAA compliance, and medication administration are highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when required.
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, healthcare teams, and social workers.
- Compassionate caregiving skills combined with patience for working with seniors or individuals with disabilities requiring long-term support.
- Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral changes requiring intervention.
