A well-established medium-sized Midwest manufacturer of industrial process heating equipment is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a Sales Engineer to provide technical support to their independent manufacturers’ reps and customers.
The Sales Engineer serves as a technical liaison between customers, sales representatives, and internal departments. This role involves developing quotations, supporting product application and design, coordinating projects through manufacturing, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction. The position requires strong engineering aptitude, communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept through delivery.
Sales and Field Support:
- Provide technical factory support to sales representatives and/or customers, including travel in the field within the United States and Canada. This includes assistance for equipment start-up and service as required.
- Monitor and manage rep performance against assigned quota and take corrective action when necessary.
- Identify sales opportunities and follow through via proper sales networks.
Quoting and Project Coordination:
- Prepare quotations requiring review of detailed RFQ’s and bid packages. Ensure the quotation satisfies all technical specs, documentation requirements, and procedures. Perform cost estimates and technical review including any exceptions or alternatives.
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors in the design and quoting stage on the specification and procurement of components for systems.
- Provide support with processing replacement parts requirements for customers and sales representatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree.
Experience in industrial process equipment sales, thermal systems, or related engineering applications strongly desired.
- Understanding of heat transfer principles, process instrumentation, pumping systems, and control valve applications a significant plus.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor in customer and vendor interactions.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel domestically and to Canada as required.
