POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR functions at the manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws while fostering a productive and positive work environment. This role involves recruitment, employee relations, training, benefits administration, payroll processing and compliance with safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and conflict resolution
- Conduct investigations and recommend solutions for workplace issues
- Conduct counseling and/or progressive discipline write ups
- Promote a positive work culture through employee engagement
- Explain regulations, policies, or procedures to employees as needed
- Develop and initiate trainings for leadership to further develop their interaction with employees
Recruitment & Staffing
- Lead recruiting efforts including posting, contacting and screening applicants
- Interview external and internal candidates for upper level positions within the facility
- Coordinate recruiting and retention strategies
- Review compensation data relating to market competitiveness
- Onboarding efforts for new hires
- Manage relationship with temporary employment agencies for providing needed production workers
Compliance and Policy Implementation
- Ensure all employee files are in compliance as well as information kept in Paychex
- Review and maintain employee Handbooks for the company
- Work with all managers and employees to administer all company policies and practices
- Complete all required OSHA logs and reports; all COBRA requirements with employees and insurance provider; and all required EEO Reporting
Payroll
- Process hourly payroll weekly and salary biweekly (Paychex)
- Manually enter job transfer information and/or payroll changes
- Collect time adjustment forms payroll processing
- Keep record of all absenteeism, vacation time, leave of absence, etc. by employee
- Monitor new employee probationary periods
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or relevant experience
- Minimum of 3+ year(s) experience in HR, Personnel, Payroll or other employee-related functions
- Strong at problem solving and conflict resolution
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
- Ability to communicate ideas well both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task and push several projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to learn and to improve existing processes
- Experience in manufacturing environment helpful
- Strong attention to detail with good planning and organizational skills
- Experience in Paychex helpful
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
