About the Role
Freezer Engineering is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead control system design, programming, and commissioning for modular skid-based process systems serving oil, gas, and chemical industry clients. This role owns projects from design through field startup and requires hands-on commissioning experience in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and configure control system architecture for skid/Modular-based process systems in Oil and Gas, water, chemical plants and manufacturing
- Develop and troubleshoot control logic in DeltaV, Studio 5000 (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley), and Siemens (TIA Portal/Step 7) platforms
- Lead field commissioning and startup activities, including loop checks, I/O verification, and system tuning
- Collaborate with electrical, process, and piping design teams on integrated skid/ Modular packages
- Develop HMI/SCADA screens and alarm management strategies
- Support FAT/SAT testing and client witness testing
- Troubleshoot control system issues remotely and on-site during commissioning and post-startup support
- Follow ISA standards
- Mentor junior controls engineers and review their work product
- Interface directly with clients on technical scope and schedule
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or related Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of controls engineering experience, with demonstrated seniority
- Proficiency in DeltaV, Studio 5000, and Siemens control platforms — hands-on programming, not just familiarity
- Proven field commissioning experience — this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have
- Experience with skid-based or modular process systems in oil, gas, or chemical industries
- US Citizenship required-DO NOT apply if not a citizen
- Willingness to travel for field commissioning (percentage TBD based on project load)
Preferred Qualifications
- SIL/PLC safety system experience
- P&ID and control narrative development experience
- Experience with SCADA historian platforms
- PE license (or actively pursuing)
Location: Houston, TX or Englewood, CO (open to either office)
Pay: $90,592.85 - $140,000.00 per year
