Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dental Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the complete billing cycle for dental services, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Responsibilities
- Review dental procedures and translate them into appropriate codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to ensure precise billing.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims electronically via EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, adhering to payer guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to dental procedures, diagnoses, and billing activities.
- Collaborate with dental staff to verify patient information, treatment plans, and insurance coverage details for billing accuracy.
- Monitor accounts receivable, perform medical collections when necessary, and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances.
- Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and compliance regulations affecting dental billing practices.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical or dental billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology and records management.
- Experience working with EMR or EHR systems in a medical or dental office environment.
- Knowledge of medical collection processes and insurance claim submission protocols.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially.
