We are looking for a strong, experienced leader to manage our machine shop and take ownership of the people, production, quality, and day-to-day performance of the department.
Technical machining experience is important, but leadership ability is critical for this position. We need someone who can set expectations, communicate clearly, hold employees accountable, develop a strong team, and keep everyone focused on quality and production goals.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage the machine shop team
- Set clear expectations for performance, quality, attendance, and accountability
- Create a productive, professional, and team-oriented shop environment
- Coach and develop employees to improve their skills and performance
- Address performance and personnel issues promptly and professionally
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and follow up to ensure completion
- Communicate priorities clearly and keep the team focused on daily and long-term goals
- Lead by example with a hands-on, solutions-oriented management style
- Identify problems early and take ownership of resolving them
- Build a culture of accountability, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Shop & Production Responsibilities
- Manage daily machine shop operations, scheduling, and workflow
- Ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
- Coordinate manpower and equipment based on production priorities
- Monitor productivity, quality, and overall shop performance
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Oversee CNC and manual machining operations
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues
- Maintain equipment, organization, cleanliness, and shop safety
- Work closely with management to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, build teams, and hold employees accountable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident decision-maker who can prioritize and solve problems
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- CNC and machining knowledge
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with precision measuring equipment
- Understanding of quality-control procedures and shop safety
- A leader who is willing to be present on the shop floor and actively involved with the team
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000–$120,000 annual salary, depending on experience
- $450 employer contribution toward medical insurance
- Medical and dental benefits available after 60 days
- 13 paid holidays/days off, including the week between Christmas and New Year's
