Job Summary/Purpose
Prepares, seasons, and cooks’ meat, vegetables, soups, and hot breads according to defined recipes and menus for customers as written by the dietary manager. The cook prepares all food in safe and sanitary conditions. Prepare food in a timely manner according to recipes to produce the best quality product. Prepares food items and fills patients’ meal tray according to menu and dietary restrictions. Washes pots, pans, and utensils per use. Keeps cooking area neat and clean, mops, and sweeps as assigned. Performs daily and weekly cleaning as assigned. Completes all forms as designated (e.g., sanitizer solution, storeroom, and refrigeration monitors.) Prepares salads, desserts, drinks, etc. for patient meal service according to defined recipes and menus for customers as written by the Dietary Manager. Responsible for preparing food items and filling patients’ meal tray according to menu and dietary restrictions. Responsible for preparing food items as defined by the menu and following the tasks list. This position requires complete competencies in Food Service I and PM Cook within 6 months of hire.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Sets up meal trays following diet order and patient menu choices.
- Deliver food carts to the nursing floor units.
- Returns soiled meal trays to kitchen and washes dishes and tableware.
- Inventories prepare and deliver stock to nourishment stations on nursing units.
- Keeps accurate cash drawer, counts money, and takes it to cashier.
- Handles food in accordance with sanitation regulations.
- Prepare food according to recipe and dietary restrictions.
- Plans cooking schedule to have food ready on time and adheres to 30-minute holding protocol.
- Cooks and serves food per HACCP regulations.
- Cooks proper amount of food according to patient and cafeteria census.
- Fills trays according to diet order and written menus.
- Put up incoming frozen and refrigerated foods.
- Thaws and preps food.
- Keeps the area clean and organized.
- Understands nutritional needs of patients/residents of all ages.
Role Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Licensure and Certifications – Post Hire
