Urban Upbound Jobs-Plus Intake Coordinator
Background:
Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to provide residents of public housing neighborhoods the tools and resources needed to achieve economic mobility and self-sufficiency, and to break cycles of poverty.
Urban Upbound advances its mission through five integrated programs: employment services, financial counseling, youth development/college and career access, the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union, and community revitalization services.
Jobs-Plus is a proven place-based employment program designed to increase the earnings and employment of working age public housing residents. Jobs-Plus uses a three pronged approach which includes: employment-related services; financial incentives that make work pay; and community supports for work, the strengthening of social ties among residents and community stakeholders to support residents' job preparation and work efforts.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Intake Coordinator oversees the engagement of members in the Jobs-Plus program to ensure members are connected to program services. Also, the Intake Coordinator provides general office support and customer service to unemployed and employed residents of public housing.
Responsibilities:
Helping customers navigate the enrollment process and entering intake forms into a database; Scheduling a high volume of appointments and following up on "no-shows";
- Providing general information regarding program objectives, services and requirements via phone, email, social media, and in-person walk-ins;
Managing multiple program calendars;
Ordering supplies, and issuing work-orders to facilities management personnel;
Maintaining an organized system of tracking, monitoring, and prioritizing tasks and projects; Creating, updating and/or maintaining organized intake files and program records; Assisting with preparing workshops materials (e.g. photocopying, collating, stapling, etc.); Working proactively and taking initiative to support the varying needs of the team and senior leadership; and
Other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director and Urban Upbound leadership.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred.
1-2 years of work experience in an office setting
Proficient in MS Word, Internet-research, Google Apps, and social media tools
Strong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Does, Internet Research, and social media Outcomes-driven, strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform programmatic decisions
