JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Perform and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and oxygen saturation.

Conduct and document withdrawal assessments per protocol (e.g., COWS, CIWA) and promptly report findings to the LIP.

Perform CLIA-waived testing (e.g., blood glucose monitoring, urine testing) in accordance with regulatory standards.

Accurately document patient interactions, observations, and clinical data in the electronic health record (EHR).

Communicate patient status changes, concerns, or abnormal findings to the LIP or appropriate clinical personnel in a timely manner.

Assist with patient flow, including preparing patients for examination or transfer to medical treatment areas.

Ensure all medical rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared in accordance with infection control and safety standards.

Maintain and monitor inventory of medical and first aid supplies on a weekly basis; notify leadership of shortages.

Support compliance with organizational policies, state regulations, and accrediting body standards (e.g., CARF, HRSA,AODE, as applicable).

Complete all required competencies, trainings, and certifications within designated timeframes.

Initiate and process patient referrals as directed by the Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP)

Coordinate referrals to internal and external providers, including specialty care, behavioral health, and community resources

Track referral status and ensure timely follow-up and documentation in the EHR

Communicate referral information and instructions clearly to patients and care team members

Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders.

Support a therapeutic environment aligned with recovery-oriented principles.

Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Medical Office Manager or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP).
Requirements:
Qualifications

Must possess a current, valid, and unrestricted certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification

Valid Kentucky driver’s license
-
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical environment

Strong communication and organizational skills
-
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant
-
Knowledge of substance use disorders (SUD), mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders
-
Experience working in addiction treatment settings, including residential and/or intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, community health center.

Experience with or training in crisis intervention and conflict resolution (may be obtained post-hire)
