Principle Function:
The Director of Technical Services provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all non-IT technical environments across all church campuses. This role ensures excellence, reliability, and usability of audio, video, lighting, and production systems in support of worship services, ministries, events, and churchwide operations. This position blends technical expertise, systems leadership, and ministry partnership, enabling all ministries to effectively use technology to fulfill the church’s mission.
Relationships:
In policy and management, the Director of Technical Services develops and implements a cohesive vision for technical systems that supports all ministries, establishing standards for excellence across all environments.
With staff and volunteer servants, the Director of Technical Services collaborates closely with ministry leaders to assess and meet technical needs, designing and implement systems accessible for non-technical users and providing training when necessary. The Director of Technical Services recruits, trains and encourages tech volunteers.
In professional practice, the Director of Technical Services performs all duties following God’s Word and maintains the highest level of integrity, with excellent stewardship of church resources.
In availability, the Director of Technical Services demonstrates a maximum level of reliability, and a willingness to serve as circumstances and opportunities necessitate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for all audio, video, and lighting systems across all church campuses, including casting long-term vision and recommending upgrades and investments in collaboration with ministry leaders.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage technical volunteers, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth.
- Oversee all technical aspects and support of church events such as weekly worship services, conferences, ministry programs, weddings, and funerals.
- Oversee maintenance, lifecycle management, and inventory of all technical equipment, and lead the design, installation, and ongoing improvement of systems as needed.
- Work closely with external broadcasting partners and IT to manage workflow and capacity, as well as troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. A member of an LCMS congregation.
2. An understanding of the mission and ministry of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
3. Experience in professional audio, video production, and lighting systems.
4. Experience with livestream workflows. 5. Ability to lead and develop volunteers.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills.
7. Effective communication and organizational abilities.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
