Position Summary
The IS Engineer – Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting custom software applications, databases, and manufacturing systems that improve operational efficiency, production traceability, and business performance. This role partners with cross-functional teams to develop technology solutions, troubleshoot complex system issues, and ensure reliable operation of critical production applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot customized software applications.
- Develop, maintain, and support production traceability systems and databases.
- Create software applications that improve efficiency and integration across business functions.
- Design, develop, and maintain reporting tools and data analytics solutions.
- Analyze production and business data to support operational decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance the company's intranet site.
- Provide technical support for applications, databases, and enterprise systems.
- Troubleshoot routine and complex database and software application issues.
- Train users on database functionality and communicate system enhancement opportunities.
- Support cross-functional teams with application development, system improvements, and integration projects.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support critical production systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server administration and maintenance experience (SQL Server 2005 or newer).
- Strong programming experience with:
- Visual Basic (VB/VBScript)
- C#
- JavaScript
- SQL / T-SQL
- PHP
- .NET / ASP.NET
- HTML / XML
- Ability to read and write PLC ladder logic.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server, including queries and stored procedures.
- Experience with ICONICS Genesis32 or Genesis64 is preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Occasional work on the production floor.
- Ability to use hands and reach while interacting with computer systems and manufacturing equipment.
