Truck Country is seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Service Manager to help lead our service department operations. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality repairs, exceptional customer service, and a safe, efficient work environment. You’ll partner closely with the Service Manager to support technicians, drive performance, and keep operations running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Support day-to-day service operations and step in as a leader when needed (including after-hours/on-call support)
- Coach, mentor, and hold technicians and service staff accountable for performance and procedures
- Resolve customer concerns and manage high-priority repair follow-ups
- Oversee technician efficiency, training, and development
- Assist with hiring and performance management of service team members
- Manage repair authorizations and monitor workflow
- Track and address comebacks, ensuring quality control
- Maintain shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards
- Oversee shop equipment, tooling, and facility-related needs
- Support budgeting efforts and monitor department expenses
- Handle administrative duties including scheduling, time-off approvals, and service-related A/R follow-up
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven leadership experience in a service or shop environment
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accountability and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Comfortable working with technicians and customers in challenging situations
Work Environment
- Combination of indoor shop and outdoor conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, and shop-related materials
- Physically active role with occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
