HR Generalist - Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Job posting management — Draft job ads, post openings, and maintain applicant flow
- Candidate screening — Review applications, conduct phone screens, and coordinate interviews
- Offer administration — Prepare offers, initiate background checks, and manage pre-employment steps
- New hire onboarding — Facilitate orientation, ensure completion of I-9 and required documents, and support first-week integration
Investigations & Employee Relations
- Intake and documentation — Receive concerns, gather initial facts, and maintain confidential records
- Investigation interviews — Interview employees, witnesses, and supervisors
- Findings and recommendations — Summarize outcomes, recommend corrective actions, and support leadership decisions
- Policy guidance — Provide consistent interpretation of policies and support coaching conversations
Leave Administration
- FMLA processing — Manage intake, eligibility, notices, and return-to-work coordination
- ADA accommodations — Support interactive process and documentation
- Short/long-term disability — Coordinate claims, follow-ups, and communication with employees
- Attendance tracking — Maintain accurate leave records and ensure policy adherence
Benefits Administration
- Benefits enrollment — Coordinate annual enrollment, new hire elections, and qualifying life event changes
- Vendor coordination — Serve as liaison with insurance carriers and third-party administrators
- Employee support — Assist employees with benefit questions, claims issues, and plan understanding
- Compliance tracking — Maintain ACA, COBRA, and other regulatory documentation
Additional Responsibilities
- HRIS data management — Maintain accurate employee records and reporting
- Compliance support — Assist with audits, training records, and regulatory requirements
- Employee engagement — Support recognition programs, communication initiatives, and culture efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of HR experience with exposure to benefits, leave, recruiting, and investigations
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, EEO, and general employment law
- Excellent communication, confidentiality, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
