General statement of Duties: Responsible for strict control and maintenance of the sale of beverage alcohol, assuring that all laws and regulations are enforced.
Supervision Received: Works under the general and technical supervision of the Municipal Liquor Store Manager

Typical Duties Performed:
- In absence of the Liquor Store Managers assumes responsibility for activities.
- Assists with ensuring timely and accurate paperwork including ordering supplies, receiving deliveries, checking purchase orders, and cash handling.
- Maintain and encourage good public relations with customers.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by satisfying customer requests in a friendly, competent manner.
- Open liquor store; set up cash register banks, count and verify all cash. Must notify management of any major cash over/shorts.
- Close liquor store; assuring that all cash and daily receipts are secured in safe, all Sales Clerk duties have been completed, all doors secured, alarm is set, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness, customer convenience and proper traffic flow, assuring proper display placement and shelf sets.
- Assists in cleaning and stocking coolers and shelves.
- Participates in in-service training.
- Assists with conducting inventory of merchandise periodically during the year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of alcoholic drinks and their preparation.
- Skill in the use of various types of cash registers and Point of Sale System.
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to accept supervision.
- Ability to follow written and oral directions and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion in sales based on age, inebriation and/or possibility of bad checks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which includes a variety of days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must be proficient in the use of a 10-key.
- Excellent liquor, beer and wine product knowledge.
- Excellent customer service skills are required.
