Heavy Equipment Operator III

Position Summary
Blue Sage Services is seeking highly skilled professionals for the role of Heavy Equipment Operator III. This position represents mastery of heavy civil equipment operations and serves as the final step before advancement into Crew Foreman. Operator III team members consistently perform finish-grade work, operate advanced GPS technology, lead production activities, and provide technical guidance to developing operators. This position requires exceptional technical ability, leadership, accountability, and a commitment to Blue Sage Services' standards of safety, quality, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all Operator I and Operator II responsibilities
- Safely operate dozers, excavators, graders, scrapers, and all primary earthmoving equipment
- Perform finish grading with and without GPS machine control
- Utilize GPS systems, laser technology, and grade control equipment to meet project specifications
- Independently manage assigned work areas and daily production when needed
- Interpret plans, grades, and project layouts
- Coordinate daily work activities with the Foreman
- Mentor and develop Operators I and II
- Troubleshoot operational challenges while maintaining production
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and Blue Sage Services core values
- Perform daily maintenance services, EX. – greasing, fueling, checking all fluid levels, cleaning filters
- Successfully complete the Blue Sage Services Level III Operator Assessment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Extensive heavy civil equipment operating experience
- Proven success as an Operator II or equivalent experience
- Proficient with finish grading using dozers and excavators
- Advanced GPS machine control experience
- Strong understanding of grading, production sequencing, and site operations
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities
- CDL preferred
- Successfully pass the Level III Operator Assessment
- Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings
Work Environment & Schedule
- Work hours may vary based on project demands and operational workload
- Frequent travel may be required depending on project location
- Outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions
