Job Summary: Assist districts/charters in increasing student achievement through professional development and coaching technical assistance in the areas of K-8 Language Arts and STR-based reading curriculum, instruction, and assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Prefer a Master's Degree in a related field
Required specialized training in K-8 literacy
Prefer an elementary and/or secondary degree or certification
Proficient in the Science of Teaching Reading
Experience:
At least 5 years of related experience.
Prefer ten or more years of experience in K-8 literacy instruction.
Experience in training and coaching adult learners.
Knowledge / Skills:
Ability to build, develop and inspire teams

Build and cultivate relationships
Excellent communication, Financial knowledge, Collaborative coaching strategies
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
Work with frequent interruptions; irregular hours

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Plan, develop, and present research-based, data-driven professional development for Region 7 customers based on needs assessment data in the area of RLA and Texas Reading Academies.
2. Provide training and technical support to customers of Region 7 on STR-aligned instructional practices according to the guidelines of the ESC Reading Academies Implementation grant.
3. Provide technical assistance to Region 7 customers for the purpose of improving student performance.
4. Participate with other ESCs, TEA, and Region 7 ESC staff in activities designed to promote improved student performance in literacy.
5. Work collaboratively with all ESC staff in serving the customers of Region 7.
6. Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions with ESC staff and customers.
7. Attend and participate in ESC and TEA required meetings and trainings.
8. Follow Region 7 ESC policies and procedures.
9. Continue to achieve necessary competence through professional development training.

Because your assignment is funded by grants, federal funding, and/or special funding, your continued employment is expressly conditioned on the availability of funding for the position. If funding becomes unavailable due to loss of state/federal funding or due to financial constraints of Region 7 ESC, your position is subject to immediate termination.
