Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and products. The role focuses on delivering robust, manufacturable designs, resolving complex technical issues through disciplined troubleshooting, and driving process improvements using Six Sigma methodologies. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will partner with cross-functional teams to meet performance, cost, schedule, and quality objectives while mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities

Lead concept generation, detailed mechanical design, and product development using CAD and simulation tools.

Perform engineering analysis (FEA, thermal, motion) to validate designs and ensure reliability and performance.

Troubleshoot complex product and manufacturing issues using root-cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

Apply Six Sigma tools and continuous-improvement practices to reduce variation, improve yield, and cut costs.

Develop and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test plans.

Plan and execute prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, and translate test results into design improvements.

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and procurement to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet regulatory and safety requirements.

Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians, providing technical leadership and promoting best practices.

Manage multiple projects, set priorities, track progress, and communicate status to stakeholders and leadership.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO, ASME) and maintain a strong focus on safety and product reliability.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters degree or advanced coursework preferred.

5+ years of mechanical design and product development experience in a related industry.

Proven expertise in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) and a working knowledge of FEA and analysis tools.

Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills with hands-on experience in prototype testing and failure analysis.

Experience applying Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, assemblies) and DFMA principles.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deliverables.

Knowledge of regulatory and quality systems such as ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards.

Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.
