The Host at KYU plays a key role in creating a welcoming and efficient front-of-house experience by managing guest reception, coordinating seating arrangements, and supporting overall restaurant operations.
Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome guests upon arrival with a warm and professional demeanor.

Manage the reservation system, including taking reservations, updating the guest list, and handling special requests or accommodations.

Coordinate and manage seating arrangements to ensure a smooth flow of guests and optimal table turnover.

Provide accurate wait time estimates and communicate effectively with guests regarding their seating status.

Assist in maintaining a clean and organized host stand and waiting area.

Collaborate with the service team to ensure timely and efficient guest seating and service.

Handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and resolve any issues promptly.

Assist with the check-in and check-out process, ensuring accuracy in guest records and transactions.

Support the front-of-house team by assisting with tasks such as running food, refilling beverages, or bussing tables as needed.

Uphold KYU’s service standards and values, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all guests.

Monitor and manage guest flow during peak times to minimize wait times and optimize seating arrangements.

Maintain knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, specials, and policies to effectively answer guest questions and provide recommendations.

Assist in training new hosts on standard operating procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:

1 to 3+ years of experience in a guest-facing role, preferably as a Host or similar position in a restaurant or hospitality environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.

Positive attitude and a professional demeanor.

Experience with reservation and waitlist management systems is a plus.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
