Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with terminal illnesses, ensuring comfort and dignity during their end-of-life journey. This role requires excellent clinical skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary teams.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- On call for after hours and weekend triage
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including venipuncture and tube feeding.
- Monitor vital signs and manage symptoms effectively to enhance patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide education and support to patients' families regarding care procedures and end-of-life issues.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols in various healthcare settings, including Level I Trauma Centers and emergency medicine environments.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in hospice care or palliative care preferred.
- Proficiency in medical records management and familiarity with laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational health practices is a plus.
- Strong skills in vital signs monitoring, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine.
- Ability to operate neonatal ventilators is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong emphasis on empathy and compassion.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required by patient needs.
