The Rebels for Peace's mission is to uncover the next generation of leaders and bring relatable, sustainable, and transformational mental health programs to youth in underserved communities.
Our core Programs are:
1. Mini Rebels for Peace - A resilience and Social Emotional Learning program that's delivered in elementary schools with over 700 youth per year.
2. The Rebels for Peace Youth Leadership Program - A 6-week leadership and youth employment program that runs during the summer months. Our unique youth mentorship and social-emotional education model has proven effective, and our organization is in a period of expanding its operations and sustainability.
Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dynamic full-time Youth Leader & Facilitator to inspire and mentor students in grades 4th through 8th. This role requires a passionate individual ready to guide youth through interactive lessons centered on social-emotional learning (SEL) and mentorship, both inside and outside of school settings.
Location: Chicago, IL (Southside)
Type: Part-Time/Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Lead SEL-focused interactive lessons and activities, adjusting approaches based on individual and group needs.
- Serve as a mentor, fostering resilience, leadership, and social-emotional growth among students.
- Work closely with educational staff and parents to support student development.
- Participate actively in professional development and team collaboration initiatives.
- Manage schedule and commitments for consistent student engagement and program development.
Qualifications:
- Must be comfortable working with youth from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness.
- Previous experience working with youth is essential; a background in mental health, SEL, social work, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, integrity, confidence, and a positive outlook are critical.
- Must be goal-driven, independent, responsible, and eager to continue learning and adapting.
- Requires the ability to foster inclusivity, exhibit excellent coaching skills, and maintain flexibility and open-mindedness.
- Must be close to Chicago, IL before starting work.
