Residential Youth Support Counselor – Foster Care (Weekend)

Be a part of supporting young people ages 16–21 involved in foster care. What they need most is a steady adult who shows up consistently, listens well, and helps them navigate life’s challenges and celebrate triumphs. We call that role a Youth Ally. This role isn’t about simply supervising a shift it’s about showing up as a steady, supportive adult when it matters most.
This position works Saturday through Monday from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, when youth are returning from school, work, and daily activities and need connection, structure, and support.
What Your Days Might Look Like
You might:
- Welcome youth back from school or work and check in on their day
- Help with homework or coach someone through a challenge
- Cook or share dinner together
- Lead activities that build independence — from budgeting to cooking to goal-setting
- Participate in recreation, games, or outings
- Support young people through difficult moments using calm, trauma-informed approaches
- Maintain a structured, safe living environment
- Document observations that help the team support each youth’s goals
Youth Allies build relationships that help young people grow in confidence and independence.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in human services, youth development, healthcare, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with adolescents, foster care, behavioral health, residential programs, or youth serving organizations
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Ability to pass required background checks and screenings
- Willingness to complete required training and certifications
Youth Allies work directly with residents in a residential setting, supporting daily routines, safety, and independence-building.
Schedule: Saturday - Monday | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
