American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Tele Observation Unit position requiring telemetry certification and a minimum of 2 years of experience, working night shifts on a 13-week contract in Asheville, NC.

K9-B Observation Unit within a large acute care hospital (815-bed, Level II trauma center, Magnet®-designated)
-
20-bed unit with a structured care team including charge nurses, RNs, PCTs, and a HUC on both shifts
-
Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Patient ratios: 1:5 day / 1:6 nights, with stretch ratios of 1:6 and 1:7 respectively
-
Telemetry monitoring and Baxter infusion pumps used on the unit
-
EMR: Cerner/PowerChart experience required
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to other med-surg levels of care, including A3 West Med-Surg, A4 West Trauma, A4 East Renal, A5 West Adult Medicine, A6 West Neuro, J6 Ortho, A7 West, K6 Spine, and K8 General Surgery

Active NC or Compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted) and Telemetry Certification

NIH Stroke Scale certification required for Tele RNs

Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in telemetry or med-surg required

Cerner/PowerChart EMR experience required
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Professional reference required (2 references required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
-
Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date

Typical procedures include telemetry monitoring, Foley catheter insertion, and IV starts
-
Ideal candidates are outgoing, team-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Med-Surg certification is preferred but not required
-
Scrub color requirement: all navy, all white, or white top with navy bottoms
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
