Kresloff Eye Associates is a busy, well-established ophthalmology practice in South Jersey seeking an organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator / Surgical Counselor to join our team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with patients, surgeons, and referring physicians while coordinating all aspects of the surgical experience. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries from scheduling through postoperative follow-up.
- Counsel and educate patients regarding their surgical procedures, lens options, and what to expect before and after surgery.
- Schedule surgeries with hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and ensure all required documentation is complete.
- Coordinate preoperative testing and medical clearances.
- Communicate with surgeons, referring physicians, anesthesia providers, and surgical facilities.
- Prepare surgical paperwork and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure patients feel informed and supported throughout their surgical journey.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Surgical Coordinator, Surgical Counselor, Medical Scheduler, or similar healthcare role preferred.
- Ophthalmology experience is strongly preferred; experience coordinating cataract surgery is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office.
- Warm, professional, patient-centered attitude with a commitment to excellent service.
