Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in corporate, governmental, and non-profit accounting, with a strong foundation in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and advanced accounting software. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex financial projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the strategic financial management of our organization. The CPA will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial statements, compliance with GAAP and securities law, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial management tools.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and assist in regulatory reporting requirements.
- Perform internal audits and support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain expertise in securities law, Wills & trusts law, non-profit accounting standards, and governmental accounting practices as applicable.
- Mentor junior accountants and staff on technical accounting issues including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, accrual accounting, and financial concepts.
- Support tax preparation activities leveraging tax experience; ensure proper documentation for tax filings.
- Lead or participate in special projects related to financial services, private equity transactions, or other strategic initiatives.
- Write comprehensive financial reports and interpret complex financial data for management review.

Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in technical accounting principles such as GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Excel, Quicken, and other relevant tools.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and cash flow management.
- Experience with non-profit accounting standards and governmental accounting practices preferred.
- Ability to interpret financial reports accurately and communicate findings effectively.
- Demonstrated mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior team members on complex accounting issues.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail orientation.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
