SUPERINTENDENT – SHELL CONSTRUCTION
Draft Construction LLC is hiring an experienced Shell Construction Superintendent to manage residential and light-commercial shell projects throughout Southwest Florida.
This is a field leadership position responsible for taking projects from layout and foundations through the completed structural shell. We need someone who understands concrete, masonry, framing, structural plans, inspections, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from site layout and excavation through roof sheathing
- Oversee footers, grade beams, reinforcing steel, underground utilities, slabs, block walls, columns, tie beams, trusses, roof sheathing, and interior framing
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and truss plans
- Identify plan conflicts, missing details, and constructability problems before work begins
- Coordinate subcontractors, crews, equipment, materials, inspections, and deliveries
- Create and maintain short-term and overall project schedules
- Verify elevations, setbacks, dimensions, embeds, openings, and structural details
- Confirm reinforcing steel, formwork, concrete, masonry, and framing are installed according to the approved plans
- Schedule and prepare projects for required inspections
- Monitor workmanship, productivity, site safety, cleanliness, and quality control
- Document daily progress, manpower, delays, inspections, and jobsite conditions
- Communicate clearly with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, suppliers, and clients
- Review material quantities and help prevent shortages, waste, and unnecessary costs
- Keep multiple active projects moving on schedule
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of construction field experience
- Strong experience with foundations, concrete, reinforcing steel, masonry, and structural framing
- Previous experience as a superintendent, shell superintendent, concrete superintendent, or experienced foreman
- Ability to read architectural and structural plans without constant supervision
- Knowledge of Florida construction practices, inspections, building codes, and hurricane requirements
- Strong scheduling, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and subcontractor crews
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, email, construction-management software, and daily reporting tools
Preferred Experience:
- Southwest Florida residential construction
- Elevated homes, stem walls, grade beams, pilings, and flood-zone construction
- JobTread or similar construction-management software
- OSHA safety training
- Concrete and masonry estimating or material takeoffs
