SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION
Bus Driver Route 4 ( currently Bus # 1 ) 4.25 Hrs
JOB OBJECTIVE
-
Transport students from home to school, from school to home, and from school on field or other approved trips in a safe manner
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-
The driver must have and maintain a valid C.D.L. for Class “B” school bus
-
The driver must be certifiable by the County Board of Education for driving a school bus
-
The driver must be insurable by the district’s fleet insurance carrier
-
The driver must have the ability to professionally respond to student misconduct

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Provide courteous, orderly, punctual, and safe transportation of students in assigned vehicles along prescribed routes to and from designated schools
-
Drive safely on all assigned routes, obey all state and local traffic laws and Northwest Local transportation department regulations and procedures
-
Comply with all Ohio Pupil Transportation and Safety Rules as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Education

Attend state, county, and district safety meetings or courses which are required for re-employment
-
Make daily bus inspections to check tires, gas, lights, brakes, and other items as required by law. Check interior of bus daily for damage
-
Make a report in writing of mechanical defects, malfunctions, damage, etc. to the transportation supervisor
-
Driver is responsible for fueling the bus and adding oil. Buses should be fueled at a half tank or more at all times

Clean interior of bus, outside mirrors, and glass areas daily for regular and extra trips. De-ice in cold weather
-
Maintain discipline on the bus and report student misconduct to the appropriate building principal as soon as possible. Meet with the principal to discuss the student misconduct

Remain on bus while students are loading and unloading
-
Make all required reports, oral or written of accidents, student misconduct, bus deficiencies, time cards, absentee reports, passenger lists, forms for Treasurer’s office, etc.

Report to work everyday at the assigned time

Provide a communication link between parents, students, and school. Meet with parents and administrators as required
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform other bus driving duties as directed

Comply with all Northwest local Board of Education policies and procedures
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue

Occasional operation of a bus under inclement weather conditions
-
Occasional interaction among unruly children
