Job Description:
Position Summary
TransTech is seeking a Class A CDL Instructor to train and prepare students for successful careers in commercial driving. In this role, you will work directly with students in the classroom, training yard, and on public roads to teach safe driving skills, evaluate performance, and help students successfully obtain their CDL.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Train students in Class A CDL skills through hands-on instruction
- Teach pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Instruct backing, turning, shifting, and vehicle control maneuvers
- Provide over-the-road driving instruction on local and highway routes
- Teach coupling/uncoupling and safe equipment operation
- Coach students and provide feedback to support their progress
- Track attendance, student progress, and training completion in company systems
- Ensure all training follows DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Promote a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment
Job Requirements:
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL (no restrictions)
- Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience
- Current DOT Medical Card
- Clean driving and criminal record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Ability to operate a manual transmission proficiently
- High School Diploma or GED
Wage Range: 25.00 - 27.00 per hour
