The Shift Lead supports daily store operations by providing leadership on the floor, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining compliance with company policies and state regulations. This role acts as the go-to leader during assigned shifts, helping guide the team, resolve issues in real time, and keep operations running smoothly.
Shift Leads are expected to lead by example, uphold store standards, and assist management with communication, coaching, and execution.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Support
- Act as the leader on duty during assigned shifts
- Support and guide budtenders to ensure strong sales performance and customer experience
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and expectations
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
- Communicate shift updates, wins, and issues to management
Customer Experience
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally
- Support budtenders with product knowledge, upselling, and customer education
- Ensure compliance with ID verification and responsible sales practices
Operations & Compliance
- Open and/or close the store as assigned
- Ensure compliance with state and local cannabis regulations at all times
- Monitor cash handling, registers, and daily paperwork
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional sales floor
- Assist with inventory checks, restocking, and product displays as needed
Sales & Performance
- Support daily sales goals and promotions
- Encourage participation in sales challenges and vendor programs
- Help track performance metrics such as sales, margins, and ticket averages
- Lead by example in productivity and professionalism
Qualifications
- Previous retail or customer service experience required
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations
- Must meet all state requirements for cannabis employment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required
Physical & Schedule Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Flexible and open availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays
