About Happy Paws Pensacola
Happy Paws Pensacola is a locally owned professional pet-sitting company providing dependable, personalized in-home care for dogs and cats throughout the Pensacola area. Our clients trust us with both their pets and their homes, so reliability, communication, good judgment and professionalism matter just as much as loving animals.
About the Position
We are hiring part-time pet sitters and dog walkers for two types of coverage:
Weekday Route Pet Sitter
A recurring Monday–Friday daytime route consisting primarily of dog walks and pet-care visits, generally between approximately 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This position provides a base of regular recurring visits, with opportunities to take additional visits as client needs arise.
Flexible Drop-In Pet Sitter
As-needed pet-care visits that may occur mornings, midday, evenings, weekends and holidays. This is a great fit for someone who wants flexible part-time work and is interested in accepting additional visits as they become available.
Applicants may be considered for either position or both.
Please understand before applying: this is part-time, as-needed work. Hours are not guaranteed and workload may vary from week to week based on client demand, season and your availability. As our needs increase, dependable sitters may have opportunities to take on additional visits and earn more.
What You’ll Do
- Travel between client homes throughout the Pensacola area
- Walk dogs and provide potty breaks
- Feed pets and refresh food and water
- Provide playtime, companionship and basic pet care
- Care for both dogs and cats
- Clean litter boxes and normal pet-related messes when needed
- Follow detailed written care instructions
- Send clear updates and good-quality photos
- Safeguard client homes, keys, entry codes and personal information
- Watch for changes in a pet’s behavior or condition and communicate concerns promptly
- Attend client Meet & Greets when required
Reliability & Punctuality
This is one of the most important parts of the job.
Once you accept a visit, a client and their pet are depending on you. Sitters are expected to plan adequate travel time between homes and complete visits within the scheduled service window.
Emergencies and unexpected delays occasionally happen. When they do, prompt communication is expected. Repeated lateness, missed visits or poor communication are not compatible with this position.
You May Be a Great Fit If You:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Have an iPhone
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have your own dependable vehicle
- Are comfortable driving between multiple client homes
- Are dependable, punctual and self-motivated
- Enjoy working independently without direct supervision
- Are comfortable with dogs, cats and large dogs
- Are comfortable walking dogs and cleaning normal pet messes
- Can work outdoors in normal Florida heat and rain
- Can carefully follow detailed instructions
- Communicate well by text
- Are comfortable working in homes that may have indoor or outdoor security cameras
- Are comfortable keeping location services enabled while working when required
- Are willing to complete a background check
Professional pet-sitting experience is a plus, but it is not required. We care much more about finding someone who is responsible, trustworthy, comfortable with animals and takes commitments seriously.
Important Work Expectations
Happy Paws sitters work inside private client homes. Children, friends, partners, personal pets or other unauthorized individuals may not accompany you on visits.
Client property, keys, access codes and personal information must be treated confidentially and respectfully at all times.
Independent Contractor Position
This opportunity is structured as a 1099 independent contractor position. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and ordinary work-related expenses, including their vehicle and phone.
Who This Position Is Best For
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants meaningful part-time work, enjoys animals, has dependable transportation and has enough flexibility in their schedule to build a consistent pet-care route.
We are looking for someone we can trust long-term, not simply someone looking for a few weeks of temporary work.
If you are reliable, communicate well, take pride in doing things correctly and would enjoy becoming a trusted part of Happy Paws Pensacola, we would love to hear from you.
