About the Company
Baaloo Coffee Roasters is a family-owned Ethiopian specialty coffee producer, importer, and roaster based in the Memphis area. Baaloo features single-origin coffees from exceptional coffee-growing regions, with a special focus on coffee grown through our family’s farm and sourcing relationships in the Harar region of Ethiopia. Baaloo Café will be the first café opened under the Baaloo brand.

About the Role
Baaloo is hiring Baristas to help prepare for our cafe grand opening and after launch. This role is best suited for someone who has coffee knowledge, experience in the food and beverage industry, and experience with great customer service. The right candidate will be comfortable in a customer facing role, while working with others in a fast-paced environment and crafting beverages based on recipes.
This role will be a part-time position.
What you’ll do
With support and training from leadership, Baristas will help:
- Beverage Crafting (espresso drinks, speciality drinks, matcha, tea)
- Ability to craft drinks based on recipes
- Warm customer service
- Working as a Team Player
Other duties include:
- Opening and/or closing the cafe
- Taking and keeping track of customer orders, and other cashier responsibilities
- Maintaining a clean workspace
- Other cleaning tasks
- Physical demands include standing for most of shift, lifting 25lbs often, and restocking inventory
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a friendly and organized individual who can balance Beverage Crafting alongside customer service in a new café environment, as well as following the procedures and guidelines in place. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting while remaining a Team Player.
Requirements
- Restaurant, café, coffee shop, or food and beverage experience
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to work in a new business/startup environment
- Ability to follow procedures and guidelines
- Morning/daytime/weekend availability
- Reliable transportation
- Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and professional service standards
Nice to have qualifications
- Fast learner, and a willingness to learn
- Experience with manual espresso preparation, grinder dialing, tamping, milk steaming, pour over, cold brew, and nitro cold brew
- Interest in Ethiopian coffee, specialty coffee sourcing, or coffee education
- Knowledge of specialty coffee and espresso service
- ServSafe or other food safety certification
- Experience using Toast POS
