Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed and experienced Banana Boat Captain to join our team at Pier 60 Watersports!
*Starting Pay Rate is $18/hr PLUS COMMISSION & TIPS*
In this role, employee will be responsible for towing guests on an inflatable banana boat whilst operating a jet ski. Additionally, responsibilities may include greeting guests, ensuring all required documentation and safety procedures are completed, closely monitor active rentals and scheduling of such, maintaining equipment on and off the beach, and providing guests with a memorable vacation experience. The ideal candidate will assist in the safe operation of watersport activities including jet ski, kayak, paddle board and banana boat rentals. WATER SAFETY is our #1 priority! Employee will ensure an enjoyable experience for our guests while adhering to safety protocols AT ALL TIMES. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge and customer service skills, making it essential for candidates to be proactive and attentive.
Responsibilities
- Proficiency in operating a jet ski whilst towing.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of watersports and beach equipment, ensuring all gear is in excellent condition.
- Conduct routine checks and maintenance on equipment to guarantee safety and functionality.
- Provide and enforce clear instructions to guests regarding safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding the safety of watersport activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including all equipment used during operations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or unexpected situations, prioritizing guest safety at all times.
Qualifications
- MUST HAVE an active OUPV/Six-Pack Captain’s License
- MUST HAVE current physical & DOT drug test
- MUST HAVE current CPR/First Aid certificate
- MUST HAVE current TWIC card
- MUST be 18+ years of age
- Previous experience in a marine or outdoor recreational environment.
- Proficient mechanical knowledge related to water sports equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational needs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extended sun exposure.
- Strong swimming skills and comfort working in a water-based environment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs upwards to 200lbs.
