Westlake Academy is a K-12 open-enrollment public charter school operated by the Town of Westlake, Texas. The Academy is committed to academic excellence and global-mindedness through its International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The school fosters a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and innovation to develop well-rounded students prepared for leadership roles in a dynamic and interconnected world.
Westlake Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to join its pool of K-5 PYP teachers. Candidates in this pool will be considered for future teaching opportunities as positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required; Graduate degree preferred.

Valid Texas Teacher Certification is preferred. Selected candidates who do not hold a valid certification must obtain appropriate certification or credential within one year of hire to be considered for continued employment

Demonstrated competency in assigned core academic subject areas.

Demonstrated competency in IB Curriculum and Instruction desirable.

Completion and successful results of the state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check is required.

Ability to comply with all TEA regulations, applicable federal, state, and local laws, school policies, and standards of the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

Is legally able to work in the United States.

Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience.

Collaborate regularly with the IB coordinators and teachers to design, implement, and reflect on IB unit

Collaborates with the IB coordinators to produce supplementary teaching and learning materials that support IB conceptual understanding.

Attend faculty meetings and other appropriate staff

Communicates regularly and appropriately with parents/guardians regarding their child’s classroom performance; develops methods in support of classroom goals and teacher expectations in the home

Maintains professional relationships and communication with parents, students, and campus personnel; ensures that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.

Stay informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Performs other duties, as assigned by the PYP Principal, Principal, or Head of School.
The performance of this job will be evaluated at least annually by the PYP Principal or Assistant Principal.
