American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) travel assignment at a pediatric hospital in the Chicago area, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Pediatric ICU/PCICU setting at a 300-bed trauma-designated, academic teaching hospital with Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center designations

Unit has 19–23 beds with an average daily census of 15–18 patients
-
Patient ratio is 2:1 (RN to patient)

Common patient diagnoses include respiratory illness, congenital heart disease, hematology/oncology, post-op recovery, and trauma
-
Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Med Sonic monitors
-
EMR is Epic (experience noted)

12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Holiday coverage required as needed by the unit

Float requirement between PICU/PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics across two campuses (Oak Lawn and Park Ridge)

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active IL RN license required

Current certifications required: BLS and PALS; NRP highly preferred

Minimum 2 years of PICU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
1 professional reference required, dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Candidate must provide date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration

Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) session followed by 2 days of departmental orientation in the PICU

Departmental support includes CNAs, a Receptionist, Charge Nurse, in-house Phlebotomy, IV Team, and Resource Nurse; RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist are available 24/7
