Duties
- Greet patients warmly at the front desk, managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as ICAnotes, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Prepare and review medical documentation, ensuring accuracy in CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Manage medical records by filing, retrieving, and maintaining patient files in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating health histories.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and ensuring proper documentation review for accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Office Assistant or in a similar healthcare administrative role within clinics or dental offices.
- Bi-lingual especially in English and Spanish
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management standards.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Icanotes, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and 10-key typing for data entry.
- Exceptional patient service skills with strong phone etiquette and communication abilities; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Previous experience with office management is advantageous.
