As a key player in our logistics network, you’ll utilize your driving expertise and technical skills to ensure timely deliveries and maintain excellent customer service.
United Transportation / Rothco Final Mile Co. is actively hiring experienced CDL-A port drivers for steady local container drayage work out of Port Newark / Port Elizabeth.
This is a HOME DAILY position running all local port-to-yard deliveries within a 50-mile radius of Newark, NJ.
We are a direct sub-hauler with consistent weekday freight and immediate openings available.
Position Overview
- Home Daily
- All local NJ work (no OTR)
- Port → Yard container moves
- 50-mile operating radius
- Monday – Friday (Saturday optional based on volume)
- Start Time: 5:30 AM
- Average 3–4 double moves per day (depending on port flow)
Compensation Structure
- 1099 Contractor Position
- 35% of total linehaul per truck
- Weekly direct deposit
- Typical weekly earnings: $1,850 – $2,500+
- Based on volume, port flow, and driver consistency
- Optional weekend final-mile work available for additional income
Sign-On Bonus
- $1,500 – $2,500 sign-on bonus
- For well-qualified, experienced drivers
- Bonus amount is based on experience, performance, and meeting company criteria

- Port Newark
- Port Elizabeth
Daily Drops Across:
- Edison, NJ
- Kearny, NJ
- Dayton, NJ
- Piscataway, NJ
- Burlington, NJ
- Mt. Olive / Flanders, NJ
- Bordentown, NJ
- Phillipsburg, NJ
- Other consistent NJ yard locations
All deliveries remain local within approximately a 50-mile radius.
Driver Responsibilities
- Complete local port drayage moves safely and efficiently
- Perform pre/post trip inspections
- Maintain required logs
- Communicate professionally with dispatch
- Operate safely in a fast-paced port environment
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A
- TWIC Card (required for port access)
- Current DOT Medical Card
- Minimum 1–2 years CDL experience
- Port experience strongly preferred
- Clean driving record
- Professional communication and safety habits
