The Maintenance Planner is critical to plant operations, serving at the bridge between the Production and Maintenance Teams. They will ensure that all tools, parts, instructions and manpower required are onsite and readily available to complete planned maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
What will you do?
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and track and review all planned maintenance work within the department, including routine preventive and predictive maintenance and major plant turnaround events.
- Review work requests and work orders for completeness, accuracy, and clarity.
- Apply field condition information, relevant technical data, trade knowledge, personal experience, input from plant management and technical resources to develop high quality executable plans.
- Assemble fully planned work into formal job packages for execution by assigned teams.
- Coordinate equipment downtime with production to minimize interference with production schedules.
- Coordinate work from all sources so that all work is both planned and scheduled in advance, providing efficient use of man hours and ample time for necessary parts to be available.
- Identify and communicate any issues that will prevent plans from progressing proactively on a no less than a weekly basis.
- Develop and maintain task lists to ensure complete and accurate records consistent with company planning standards.
- Support the maintenance department as a point of leadership for technicians and vendors.
- Control and manage spare parts inventory through the SAP system in coordination with the Maintenance Manager by obtaining quotes and ordering of maintenance components and supplies within time and budget constraints.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and equipment prints to Identify and specify required materials and parts necessary for completion.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping and organization in maintenance areas.
- Participate in required safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives.
What will it take?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Journeyman-level maintenance trade certification preferred.
- 5 – 7 years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment, ideally with 2-3 years in maintenance planning, scheduling or mechanical lead.
- Working knowledge of SAP (preferred), Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment and components.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance, and planning systems.
- Experience quoting/ordering of required parts.
- Ability to read and interpret technical prints, drawings and manuals.
