What to Expect
As an Accountant, you are an essential financial and accounting resource to clients. You will work with internal and external accounting staff to assist with financial reporting, accounting entries, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll processing, bank account reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, audits, and other accounting and finance-related tasks.
What You’ll Do
As Accountant you will:
- Serves as a liaison between clients and the DSS accounting team.
- Responds to requests, issues, or general inquiries from client stakeholders.
- Assist with routine accounting entries for clients.
- Perform reconciliation activities.
- Review and update reports and documentation to assist with annual financial audits for clients.
- Assist with the implementation of accounting procedures.
- Assist with routine system entries such as journal entries and receipts.
- Support the management and maintenance of financial and accounting systems including general ledger maintenance and client information systems.
- Support accounts payable functions, manage & review coding for purchase requisitions and invoices.
- Assist with cash management.
- Assist with and perform necessary duties for accurate month end closing.
- Other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 1 year working experience in accounting/finance field OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
- Experience in school fund accounting preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders and speak effectively before groups of constituents or employees of an organization.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, letters and other written communication in order to effectively communicate information with employees, administration and the Board.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Salary range $47,500 - $67,500

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
